To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> Reply-To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> I've never been to a Philcon either. Not really a matter of disliking the con, more a question of i'm lazy and cheap and to date the GOHs haven't interested me enough to haul my ass to Philly for the weekend or for an incredibly long day trip. I did enjoy MilPhil, so no objections to going back to Philly for a con at some point. I've had my ups and downs with Balticon, less because of the con itself and more because the Wyndham is run by the devil's minions. I like both large and small cons. I went to I-Con several times as a day trip on the LIRR. They are an all things to all people con, so there's something for everyone, assuming you can figure out how to navigate the SUNY-Stony Brook campus. A couple pro writers I have a passing acquaintence with have said it's not a con that has a good reputation with the pros, largely because it's run by the SUNY SF club which means the club has a high degree of turnover and reinvents the wheel every year. As it stands now, I don't think Capclave's in any danger of being turned into a three ring circus. however, I don't see anything wrong with making more of an effort to attract gamers and filkers. It's a low cost way to try to get more members. --cathy __________________________________ The all-new My Yahoo! - Get yours free! http://my.yahoo.com
