Lynch" <kfl at KeithLynch.net> To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> Subject: [WSFA] An infrequently asked question Reply-To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> I've volunteered to write a list of answers to frequently asked questions about WSFA. This is a difficult task, since almost nobody asks any questions. So I asked one myself: Our most recent meeting was at SMOFcon, in Washington DC. When was the last time before that we met in Washington DC? This is a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Of course I know where the Gilliland, Ginter, Madigan, Pomeranz/Overton, Divine, and Prather homes, and various Worldcons are or were. But it took some digging to figure out where the Oliver, Bloom/Morman, Berg, Heneghan/ Normandy, Burgess, Pavlat, Lewis/Peacock, Rissell, Newton, Fetheroff, and Kelly homes are or were, and where the StarCall convention was held. I was finally stymied by Unicon 1983. I'm pretty sure it was at Tysons, but I can't be certain. I know it was the same location as Unicon 1982, but where was that? Assuming Unicon was not in 1983 (and it probably wasn't), this month was the first time the Washington Science Fiction Association has met in Washington for at least 26 years, possibly much longer. (Disclave was often held in DC, but has not landed on a First or Third Friday for over 34 years. Neither did either DC Worldcon, nor did last year's World Fantasy Con. Capclave has never been held in DC.) So, does anyone have an answer? Thanks.
