So the iPod-like book reader could store a thousand books. Actually, if the
formatting was done on the device (so the user could choose the font and
size), a 20 gig hard drive could probably hold well more than that, maybe
5,000 books?

On any other list, I'd have to defend the idea that someone would want to
have 5,000 books available instantly.  You could only read a book at a
time.  Well the iPod users can only listen to one song at a time too.
