The President slumped at his desk in the Oval Office, his head in his hands.
The grim news that Professor Hottentrot had died was one burden more than
his weary shoulders could bear. All hope of diverting the rogue asteroid
hurtling toward Earth was lost when the Air Force transport speeding the
distinguished scientist to Washington crashed in the West Virginia mountains. No
other mind on earth could comprehend the intricate variables involved. If only
his briefcase had been shipped on a separate plane....

Suddenly, the office door burst open, and the chief of the Secret Service
detail rushed into the room.

"Mr. President, Sir! The Search teams have found the Professor's notes!
They survived! We can build the Zeta Ray Cannon to deflect the asteroid!
Only...well..." He handed the fax he had been clutching to his
Commander-in-Chief.

The President scanned the report. "His notes were written in Sumerian? It
must have been his way of keeping his work from prying eyes...but, where in
this day and age can we find someone to decipher it and save us all?"
