Personally, I would hardly call Wordperfect "off-mainstream".

Why I like WordPerfect in two words: "reveal codes".  Because of that,
the plan to dump WP here at JHUP was reconsidered.  So now I have WP and
Word.

I see no reason to go through the "oh no, another learning experience".
 WordPerfect does what I need.
