This was once the case, but is no longer.  There are still free and paid
accounts; the holders of paid accounts get extra privileges involving the
formatting of their journals and the number of very small photos they can
use accompany their posts.

This is an interesting issue.  Probably those folks with current LJ
accounts who cared might want to establish new accounts for Capclave
business--preferably in their real names.  Some people are more concerned
than others.  I use my domain name for LJ purposes; at least I can manage
to remember it.
