Oh yeah...that reminds me why I chose not to become an engineer. I once got
through an entire semester of linear algebra without actually getting the
right answer once. Got close a few times though.

You've misplaced the decimal point.   I wouldn't object to paying $30 to
$50 to join a Worldcon.   I pay around that for Corflu each year -- but
Corflu's fee includes a banquet.
