Well, I made it back from Portland.  Saw John Lorentz and Ruth Sachter.
Went to Powell's "City of Books" <http://www.powells.com/citytour.html,
which has a pdf link for their store map), bought all of 2 books.
Interestingly Powells shelves new & used togather.

One of the fascinating pieces of urban planning in Portland is the
Fareless Square - where in a large piece of downtown Portland the public

Well, that's one way to encourage people to get out of their cars.
