Saw John Lorentz and Ruth Sachter. Went to Powell's "City of Books" <http://www.powells.com/citytour.html, which has a pdf link for their store map), bought all of 2 books. Interestingly Powells shelves new & used togather. One of the fascinating pieces of urban planning in Portland is the Fareless Square - where in a large piece of downtown Portland the public transit is free. Details here: http://www.trimet.org/fares/fareless.htm Well, that's one way to encourage people to get out of their cars. (There's also this method: http://www.cclondon.com/ ) And part of the enviromental/highway history of Portland: http://www.wweek.com/html/25-hwy.html mjw
