Westercon 19 was before my time, convention-wise, so I only heard  stories.

For the most part, San Diego ConComs were pretty lucky with hotels.   The El
Cortez was a terrific venue, and Comic Con's long run at the Hotel San  Diego
was fairly problem-free.  I don't know what they're dealing with now,  I
haven't been out there in years.

The two problem venues that come to mind in LA were the Bonaventure,  largely
due to microscopic rooms, and the Disneyland Hotel, whose management  were
just patakhs.
