WSFA was more sentimental in years gone by.  Some of those folks were
founders; the rest were born at the right time, and became life members by
right of birth (and vote of the club).  At some point it was decided that
this was too much sentimentality--or possibly not consistent with formal
non-profit status, I'm not sure.  But at any rate life membership was
dropped from the constitution.
