More commonly known as pseudonyms.

Sometimes used because Robert Silverberg might have written the entire
contents of one of the SF digests.

& sometimes used to avoid legal issues, see Robert Silverberg's intro
in Sin-A-Rama: Sleaze Sex Paperbacks of the Sixties (go to Amazon [or
whereever] and search for this 1932595058).

& Ted did say "most", not all.
