Unfortunately, the fans who know this stuff are passing away and there is no clear way to pass long that we've been there and done that. We're doomed to the eternal loops of people asking the same questions over and receiving the same answers over again. First it was the "why is fandom shrinking" which was last week and this week the usual "why are there different fandoms"? Seems to me there was a discussion on a FAQ, but none one could figure out what should be there. I think Ted's answer should be the answer to at least one question.
