Doing charity work is a good thing and all but it's not going to help
change fandom's image. Star Trek fan clubs (the ones named after ships,
at least) have charitable causes worked into their charters and they do
a heck of a lot of good stuff but it hasn't helped them shake their
image in the slightest.

We know we do it though and we've made a difference.
