Back in the '50s, after I had acquired a micro-elite (14 pitch) typer, I did the letter columns in my fanzine (STELLAR) that way. The main text of the letter occupied two-thirds the width of the page and was in pica (10 pitch). The editorial responses ran down the outside third of each page in micro-elite. If I didn't get too wordy in my replies this worked out very well, allowing the letter to be read uninterupted, but with my comments appropriately placed next to the text on which they commented. But it was a lot of work and I gave it up later. --Ted White
