At the last meeting there was discussion, but no conclusion. Last word was "watch the list"...which hasn't talked about it effectively yet. The problem was where to have it. No volunteers spoke up, though several people reminded everyone that whoever did hold it would have to supply Passover-compatible food. Whether that had a dampening effect on those who don't know what sort of food that might be or not I can't say. I suppose if we wanted to we could find some poor restaurant and just all show up there at once...if it had a "party room" that would be even better. The Maryland Mensa group has an event at the Pizza Hut in Frederick every month, and they get use of the party room since they have enough people to fill it and they buy a lot of pizzas...no extra charge for the room that way. If there's someplace like that in northern Virginia or suburban Maryland, that might work...though a Pizza Hut is probably out...unless Pizza is Passover-compatible? I only know the rule about pork, not all the rest...oh, and the no fish without scales one that I was told about before the last meeting. I heard a thing on the radio a couple of weeks back about a kid in a sort of "spelling-bee" thing where the idea was to say whether or not a given food was kosher, and why or why not. Sounded complicated, and I don't remember any of the rules that came up in that. -- Mike B. -- Your conscience never stops you from doing anything. It just stops you from enjoying it.
