The great part for me would be the lack of radioactive craters, mutants battling in the streets, alien masters dictating our every move, and various other forms of disaster. The not so great part is the lack of genetic improvements, prosthetics that are better than the natural parts, limb regeneration, "immortality", real practical space flight, world peace and freedom, clean energy, non-lethal weapons that are as effective as the lethal kind for self-defense, useful psychic powers, star gates, contact with helpful alien species, and self-programming computers that don't crash or get infected by primitive forms of cyber-slime holodecks or even 3D TV. SF is full of dreams and hopes as well as nightmares and warnings. -- Mike B. -- When in doubt, drink heavily.
