I'd like to live in some sort of idealized amalgamation of both the past
and the future. I love the fact that we have effectively instantaneous
communication and so many labor saving devices. (It's great to turn the
water on in my tub, move yesterday's load from the washer to the dryer,
load the washer and set it up to go, but not push the button, go upstairs
and empty the dishwasher, reload it and set it for a 2 hour delay, and then
go fold and put away yesterday's laundry, turn off the tub water, go
downstairs and pull the knob on the washer, and come back up and take my
bath.)

I hate the level of stress that we live in, and it's just getting
worse. And I have it easier than most people because I don't work outside
of the home. 20 years ago, I didn't think twice about driving the
bletway. Today, I do it, but I always feel that I am taking my life in my
hands. I don't even know how I survived when I was working full time for
an organization that I hated. Even being a stay at home wife and mother, I
feel stress. Is it any wonder that we have incidents like
Columbine? We're lucky we haven't just blown ourselves up.
