So.... it's always interesting when the dentist, upon looking at the =
dental problem, goes "Oh my..."

For the abcess I got a suppy of 500 mg amoxicillin. Usual dosage is every =
8 or 12 hours. Mine is every 6 hours for a week, with an initial hit of =
1000 mg. =20

For the pain, and oh my was there..., I have 500 mg capsules of oxycodone.

After the dental appointment, which took long only bacause I was a last =
minute squeezed in appointment, and after getting drugs, it was close to =
2.30pm, which meant I had been more or less awake since Thursday 7am... 31 =
hours. =20

With one oxcodone down the gullet, boy did I sleep soundly...

Spent Saturday doing next to nothing, just reading Bones of the Earth by =
Michael Swanwick.

Today, in the office for a bit to try to catch up on the email. Monday, =
off to NYC again, back in loverly Bawlmur Tuesday evening. Saturday off =
to London - and boy am I glad this medical adventure happened here and not =
Over There.

.......................

Speaking of London.... that brings to mind Da Hugos. Since two of the =
novel Hugo nominees are UK only, if anyone wants me to pick up copies of =
either or both, let me know.=20

River of Gods by Ian McDonald appears to be available in 3 editions:
=A37.99 "mass market" size, which came out in April
=A312.99 trade pb, published simultaneously with the hardcover
=A317.99 hardcover

The Algebraist by Iain M. Banks
=A317.99 hardcover - there is a paperback, but scheduled for July, after =
Hugo voting closes.

As for exchange rates, it'll be a bit more than doubling the UK price and =
adding a dollar sign, so =A317.99 works out to $36.00. My price may be a =
bit more... and since I'll be returning to the Statres at 4pm on the 20th, =
I can bring the booty directly to WSFA. Heck, I may even stay awake!

If anyone is interested, let me know OFF LIST.

Banging Ones Head on the Wall Dept.

The current Asimovs has a very nice review of DAVY that I reissued =
(http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0506/onbooks.shtml, it's the penultimate =
book reviewed). On 5 April the Amazon sales rank was 378,600. It's =
currently.... drum roll please... 863,056. Granted Amazon sales ranking =
are not the the only way to gauge the success of a book, but it is an =
indicator. The Ingram and Baker & Taylor numbers are less than thrilling =
too...

"Hey, it's not part of an endless series... why bother? I like my =
extruded genre filler..." (That was Mr Cranky speaking... must be the =
drugs.)
