Lynch" <kfl at KeithLynch.net> To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> Subject: [WSFA] Bandwidth theft Reply-To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at WSFA.org> At about 7:30 pm on Monday, two days ago, the web page http://news.wenxuecity.com/BBSView.php?SubID=news&MsgID=28763 linked to http://www.wsfa.org/journal/j99/5/9.jpg causing that Star Wars image on our website to get 39,928 hits. A week of that would have put our site over our monthly download quota. So I renamed that file to 99.jpg, and modified the corresponding index.htm. Anyone who looks at the May 1999 WSFA Journal online should see it as normal, but anyone who looks at that wenxuecity site should see a blank image where they used to have our image. Does anyone have a spare "THIS SITE IS A BANDWIDTH THIEF" image I can copy to 9.jpg for wenxuecity viewers to enjoy? Thanks. I'm not clear on whether going over our monthly download quota would mean nobody could view our site for the rest of the month, or whether it would mean we would get a bill for the excess usage. So long as I keep an eye on things, we should never have to find out.
