Not so. Humans give misleading error messages all the time. So do machines.
It's attractive to think that we could make better use of the direct data
than some weak heuristic, but since we know better than to trust a machine's
opinion. Heck, we don't trust anyone's opinion...but at least machines tend
to be consistent.
