And I suspect in the European sized paper too. Meanwhile... Paul McAuley and Kim Newman were the MCs for the Hugos, which as McAuley explained: "As you know, the Hugo Awards are named for the father of modern science fiction - that tireless self-promoter, prolific journalist, pioneering inventor of television and the steam-driven automatic pencil, and editor of the world's first real f-s [fiction scientifique]magazine: Victor Hugo." the rest maybe found here: http://www.johnnyalucard.com/hugos.html At about 100 minutes it was a good ceremony. The LA folks have a significant challenge. Of course, not having the Seiuns - which will be given out at the NASFIC - certainly helped make the ceremony shorter... by about 20 minutes or so. I was rather surprised to realize this was my 5th European Worldcon. By US standards, lots of smoking, by my recollection of past European Worldcons a lot less smoking than before. Nonetheless if you have problems with smoking, best stay on this side of the pond. And lots and lots and lots of drinking. Good convention. More later. mjw > >Elspeth
