I had problems with the smoking: usually when I got to a convention I smoke
a lot less than I normally do since there are fewer of us and we have to go
outside. At Interthingy I lasted about half an hour.

Erk.

Way back when they were bidding I said that someone would have to keep me
on a leash if they won, as Elspeth with Scotch and the Scottish would be a
dangerous combination.

It turned out, however, that it was the Swedish/Norweigian/Finland folks
and their nightly parties that got me into trouble. Fortunately Covert was
very patient and walked me back to my hotel. When talking with me and
Michael the next day he cheerfully said that next time he agrees to walk me
home he's just going to use a tranquilizer gun.
