But the most valuable thing I own is a reputation for total honestly and integrity. It's the most valuable thing anyone owns, whether they know it or not. Even the wealthiest billionaire could never have earned a nickel if people didn't trust him. I learned first-hand, 28 years ago, what it's like to be unjustly stripped of it. Another thing I value more than all my material possessions is good company. Another thing I learned 28 years ago is what it's like to have that to be stripped away. WSFA is an important part of my social life. I've been involved with WSFA, if only as a Disclave gofer, for well over half my life. I was being put in a position of having to choose between these. The stress from this had the side effect of threatening both my health and my livelihood, both of which I also highly value. It would seem that our president has made significant progress towards resolving the problem. If not, the next meeting will be my last. Because, of course, as you point out, we are *not* involved in saving lives, feeding the hungry, healing the sick, or saving the world. Neither are we being paid to show up. There's only one reason to attend. If WSFA ceases being enjoyable, people will stop showing up, and the club will die. This has happened to numerous other SF clubs. I don't want it to happen to WSFA.
