I really enjoyed this Capclave, as did anyone else attending as best I could tell. Among other things, I wasn't familiar with Waldrop's work before the con, and am now eager to read more, especially after attending his reading late Sunday. I'm pretty fond of the Nielsen Hayden's so having them as GOHs worked just fine with me. Personally, I found it both relaxing and stimulating in just about perfect proportions. Since I worked programming with Colleen, it should be no surprise that I took a lot of satisfaction in the well attended panels...I just wish I could have been at more. I was especially sorry to have missed the "Mad Scientist" panel with Jon Singer, Yoji and others. I liked the con supersuite pretty well too. EJ appreciated the regular appearance of fresh veggies for me to balance my daily intake of chips and pretzels with, and I especially enjoyed the beverages, including fresh coffee that was put out. I understand it had been planned to move some sofas from the hall into the room, and I think that would have been a good idea, but all in all, I thought it worked nicely. I'm looking forward to next year's con, as well as to taking advantage of a lot of the work for this year's that can be quickly retasked for it, especially a lot of the web page work. Of course, the high points of the con for me involved the Future Washington panel and sales, and my personal best moment was probably when Gardner Dozois walked out of the dealers room with a copy under his arm saying that he'd considered asking me for a freebie copy, but hadn't wanted to wait until I showed up to ask. I saw hime reading it several times, and am looking forward finding out what he thinks of it. Anyway, I just happened to wake up at 2:45am and thought I'd check my email while I was up and got to thinking about the con, so I thought I'd share. Job well done. I'm looking forward to next year.
