Subject: [WSFA] October's 3d Friday meeting

I will not be able to attend this Friday's meeting as my wife Connie
and I will be in Oregon assisting my elderly parents move into a
retirement home. Now in their 80's they have accumulated an
incredible array of "stuff," so we'll be assisting in the triage.
With Scott's wedding also drawing away many from the meeting, I hope
no major decisions are undertaken by those attending. We all need to
reflect on what the club means to us, where we want it to go and what
we expect of our fellow members.
As I told Lee on Sunday at Capclave, I found her apology at the first
Friday meeting totally inadequate as her behavior on the list was
wrong. I told her that while I appreciated the many things she has
done for the organization, I would not be attending any further
meetings at her home. When Alexis told me that no apology would ever
be forthcoming, I told him that was not unexpected and that my
decision certainly cost me the opportunity to continue the regular
meetings with friends. Alexis replied that I would be missed and that
he and Lee hoped to see me at third Fridays.
Connie suggested I offer our home as a venue for the first Friday
meetings and I am pleased to do so. I doubt the offer will be
seriously considered as we live 35+ miles west of the beltway,
northwest of Leesburg, but it is an alternative.
I was also surprised at how little our constitution and bylaws say
about meeting locations. It's simply the Chair's call on the time and
place.
