The big ballroom is as big as the consuite and dealer's room put together and if the con gets bigger, there might be enough money to add that to the function space. If the con doesn't get bigger, there's no need for it. An option for a growth that isn't big enough to warrant the ballroom is to swap the con suite space with one of the program spaces or use the Staph room for the con suite, give the prior con suite to programming and use another space for whatever the Staph room was for (I was only in there long enough to help Alexis move a couple of coolers up to their room after they were unloaded, but it appeared to be for storage). Perhaps combine it with the Green room? If the Green Room stayed where it was and was also Staph space, but the programming room next to it became the con suite, that wouldn't be inconvenient, and would open up two larger rooms for programming up on the main floor. While the con suite was good this year, it did seem a bit...cavernous. People were in there all the time, but it was never even close to full. A smaller room would have accommodated it very well. Since I wasn't involved in planning the spaces this year, there may well be hotel issues or other reasons why the above suggestions won't work that I'm not aware of, so if there are, just ignore me. -- Mike B. -- To do is to be -- Nietzsche.
