No. The couch would get in the way.  But keep in mind
my Dad was 6'1."  Also we had both a 6' ladder and a
step ladder in the apartment.  Even with the really
high pre-war ceilings the 6' ladder meant the ceiling
fixtures were within easy reach for lightbulb
changing.  We did make sure the less likely to be
re-read books were either on top or behind the queen
sized sofa bed.
