I especially liked the idea of continuously pumping the water from waterfalls rather than using static levees. The notion of a water dome over the city is brilliant, and somehow conjures up a Dr. Seusian image of the future. I'd like to add an idea stolen from Disney, though, and have "jumping water" fountains tossing mega-ton arcs of water all over the city. At night, you could light them with laser shows...or indeed do whole light shows on the inside of the waterdome. If anyone hasn't read the piece, I recommend it. It's a terrific piece of golden age popular science futureizing. It's in the October WSFA journal. http://www.wsfa.org/journal/j05/a/index.htm#no Ernest Lilley Home/Office: 703 606 7946 email: elilley at mindspring.com
