Because it's a short term situation...until the end of the year. After
that Keith will be eligible to return as a member just by paying dues for
another year, and after that he will be dropped from the membership rolls.
Keith is still a member *now*, so there's no reason for a panic decision,
but he won't be for much longer, so the question was still valid.
BTW, I just read the bylaws...which everyone should do I think...it may
bear on whether or not Ted is currently a member for instance. Or not...I
don't know enough details about the procedure followed to reinstate him,
but I hear he was not a member for more than a year, so his application
would have to have been handled the same as any new member's (sponsored by
three members, and approved by one trustee). Heck, *I* may not be a member
at the moment, and the same may well apply to others (such as Walter, who
rejoined after a lengthy absence from the paid-up list). I'll need to
verify that with Bob. I attended the three meetings, and paid the dues,
but I don't recall any signatures or sponsorships.

Because he has dropped out of being an active member and has stated that he
won't be renewing his membership. He's not gone yet in a legal sense...but
he's going, and for the most part in a practical and emotional sense, he's
gone.

Are you suggesting that I've ridiculed you in some way? I had no such
intention, and pretty much agreed with what you said...confirming it in
some places. Can you point out the particular things you thought were
about you in any sort of negative way? I'll be happy to try to explain
them better. I'm sorry if I was unclear to the extent that you felt demeaned.
