There's going to be a post-con e-zine, ConFused (my title), posted on Bill Burns' site and elsewhere, sometime in a week or so, and I'll be doing the cover and some sort of trip report. Meanwhile, very briefly: We had a terrific time at a good convention and were treated very well by the committee. Marvelous meals, including Indian, Lebanese, and Vietnamese (notice how one of the first things I mention is food?). I had originally set aside the 12th to start work on my GoH speech, but no sooner had I gotten home from work that evening then Elaine and I discovered one of our two cats, Boots, had suddenly gone blind. This was terribly upsetting and for the next few evenings I was hardly in a mood to attempt anything at all that was even vaguely humorous, but finally it got written and (I think) it went over rather well at ConFusion --I had some stiff competition: *all* the GoHs had good speeches. (As for Boots, within a few days he had adjusted to his blindness and was able to reach all his favorite spots, both upstairs and downstairs, without any help. Still, we're naturally unhappy about this. The first tests revealed that the two most common causes of blindness, hyperthyroidism and high blood pressure, were not to blame, and we're still waiting for the other way-overdue lab results.) People have asked about the full color tee-shirt design I did for the convention: it will be available, for $20 bucks + shipping, at www.offworlddesigns.com --Steve
