Different strokes for >different folks. > "Had I But Known", Old Earth Books would not have turned J.K. >Rowling down and I would be retired on my share of the profits. Regretfully, was never offered the books <g>. OTOH, the books that have come "over the transom" to OEB have for the most part been of a quality to make Sword of Shanrra read like Dostoevsky. And as a side note, there was in one of the publishing trade journals a few years ago comments from various editors who did turn down the Potter books. In a decidedly CYA mode they all pretty much said they'd still turn it down. Though I digress, the person who brought Rowling to the US, also brought Philip Pullman to the US (different publisher). The first book in "His Dark Materials" trilogy is outstanding. mjw
