Klezmer is jazz played by Jews.

Well, not really. It's a form of Eastern European Jewish folk music with completely different traditions and musical influences than the American jazz. It sounds happier and more jumpy than much jazz.

But in practice, well, let's just say that among the American klezmer groups there's a thriving fusion movement incorporating jazz techniques.

I have several klezmer cds, would you like to hear some?

And yes, that version of the Internationale did sound somewhat like klezmer.
