At the third Friday meeting, the club voted to move First Fridays to
the home of Sam and Judy Scheiner starting this First Friday in August.

I felt that this move was necessary as there are a sizable number of
club members who no longer chose to attend the meetings held at the
Gillilands and some members who withdrew from the club because of
everything that was going on.

WSFA is a club. We're all volunteers and no one can force others to
attend meetings. So if a large number are not happy to the point of
staying away from meetings the club needs to try to find a way of
accommodating their concerns or risk losing their
participation.  This is necessary regardless of whether their reasons
are good or not or whether their interpretation of the situation is
right or not.

Alexis and Lee have been wonderfully generous, opening their house to
WSFA for so long and I want to thank them for everything they have
done.  It was very difficult to make the decision that WSFA should
move and we did so with extreme reluctance. Cathy and I are both very
sorry that we felt this was necessary for the good of the club.

Directions will be put on the website soon.  In the meantime, here
are directions from when they hosted Fifth Friday.

By car:

 From I-66 westbound, exit at Glebe Rd. Turn right onto Glebe. Go to
2nd light (2 short blocks) and turn left on 16th St. Go about 0.5
mile. When you see the hospital, that is Edison St. Turn left. House
is second stairway on the right.

 From I-66 eastbound, exit at Washington Blvd. After existing,
continue straight onto Washington. Proceed about 1.5 miles to George
Mason Dr. Turn left. Go to 1st light, 16th St. Turn right. Go 1 block
to Edison St. Turn right. House is second stairway on the right.

Within Arlington, get on George Mason Dr. Proceed N or S as
appropriate. At 16th St. (SW corner of Virginia Hospital) turn E. Go
1 block to Edison St. Turn right. House is second stairway on the right.

By mass transit:

Exit the Ballston Metro station (on the Orange line). You then have 3
bus options.

1. The most convienent is the ART 51 bus (Arlington Rapid Transit,
green minibuses). The bus stop is the far-left shelter as you exit
the Metro. The fare is $1.25; they will accept Metro bus and subway
transfers and Metro tokens (sorry no SmartPasses). Get off at the
corner of 16th and Edison Sts. (the SE corner of Virginia Hospital).
Cross the intersection diagonally. House is second stairway on the right.

The bus runs every half-hour on the :05 and :35.

2. The ART 52 bus leaves from the same stop and runs every half-hour
on the :20 and :50. That bus will leave you off on George Mason Dr.
in front of the hospital. Walk S to the corner of 16th St. (S end of
hospital) and turn left. Walk 1 block to Edison. Turn right. House is
second stairway on the right.

3. The 2A,B, C or G runs between the Ballston and East Falls Church
Metro stations along Washington Blvd. Get off just before George
Mason Dr. Walk N on George Mason to 16th St and turn right. Walk 1
block to Edison. Turn right. House is second stairway on the right.

On a Friday evening, the bus runs every half-hour on the :05 and :35.
