Consider the chaos caused when one of > Boston's new multi-billion dolllar Big Dig tunnels recently proved > unusable, and the route it had replaced had already been torn down. They're tearing it down a) because it was already starting to fall down, and b) so that they can erect the second new span, parallel to the current new one. It will occupy much the same footprint as the span being torn down. The newest span is scheduled for completion in two years. --Ted White
