Our fan club's party at Windycon on Saturday evening would always stock a bottle of Jim Beam for when he came around. [Those were the days when 18 was the legal drinking age.] It took me a couple of years to connect Bob Tucker with that accomplished writer Wilson Tucker. Bob was always a fan first, and his novels are underappreciated. I am proud to have in my possession two SF Book Club copies of The Time Master. It seems that the original printing (the one that I first had) was missing the last line. I found that out when getting Bob's autograph for the book. I then hunted down a later printing with the line restored and had Bob sign that one also. The irony, although I never told Bob this, was that the book was better with the last line missing. Bob was one of the nicest guys I know, in or out of fandom. He will be missed. At Capclave we should be sure to pass around a bottle of Jim Beam and do a few rounds of smoooooth in his honor.
