Each of the three hotels had something going on that would have prevented us from doing the convention. As to distance, going from the Omni-Marriot to the Hilton wouldn't be so bad (mostly downhill). The other way... Can you say fandom would go head hunting (after they recover their breath, natch). If all had gone in our favor, we would have managed to put on a Worldcon, but I think it might be held in the same regard as NolaCon and its ilk. It would have stopped everyone from talking about Connie, which was still a rather sore subject to many in fandom at the time.
