Ancient history, dating back to the mid-'50s, and you have it
backwards.  Harlan's famous cry was "The mad dogs have kneed us in the
groin!"  This was in an article he wrote, describing what had happened
to "7th Fandom," a fannish movement which he'd founded and which had
gone down in flames around a year later.
