I'm in the middle of proofreading *another* Washington Convention
Center meeting, the second one so far this month. I don't know why
I'm getting all of them lately. We do have four proofreaders, but I
got the last five board of directors meetings.

This is the advisory committee instead of the board of directors.
The audio is dreadful, since they decided to meet in a bar, in the
evening, with random people talking in the background, and music
blaring.

Anyhow, one person was concerned that signing the final agreements on
the headquarters hotel has been two weeks away for months. He was
assured that this time it really is two weeks away, and that the
hotel is still on target to open in October 2010. And that numerous
Convention Center bookings have cancellation clauses that depend on
the hotel being open, so if it's not open, the Convention Center will
be in a world of hurt.

Another person asked if it was true that the Washington Hilton (better
known as the Hinckley Hilton, site of the 1981 shooting of Reagan and
the 1992 Disclave) would be replaced with condos. It was confirmed
that there is such a rumor going around, but there's nothing official.
It was claimed that with the softening of the condo market, if there
ever were any such plans, they've probably been scrapped.
