A long time ago, I read a really good post-apocalyptic novel about a fellow
that escaped into the wilderness after befriending a wolf. It told how he met
a woman and they setup a camp in a cliffside. There was also a knife fight
with a bear. I realize that isn't much to go on, but there are just a few
scenes that stick in my mind and I recall it was done by a well-known author
after they had been chided for doing an un-realistic wolf short story. He did
some homework and the novel I'm looking for was the result.
