The event went very well. We had close to 50 people there and a bookstore person said they were happy and surprised with the turnout. Yoji Kondo wasn't there but Katherine Ann Goonan (spelling aproximate)saw the mention in the Book World and came and so was added to the table (although the bookstore, of course, had no way of knowing so didn't have her books). Much of the talk focused on the sigma group of writers who have advised the government on science, with Jerry Pournelle talking about how they helped write the first draft of Reagan's SDI speech. Lots of people brought their own books but I noticed a lot of copies of Bear's new Quantico and the new edition of Niven/Pournelle Footfall, that I assumed were bought in the store. So, I'd classify it as a success. Captain Chris Christopher said he'd like to do another one next year. We probably could interest the bookstore in doing something tied to Capclave. >From: Michael Walsh <MJW at press.jhu.edu> >Date: 2007/05/23 Wed AM 08:51:40 CDT >To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at KeithLynch.net> >Cc: WSFA Forum <wsfa-forum at yahoogroups.com> >Subject: [WSFA] Reiters event ... >So ... how'd it go? > >Sorry I couldn't make it ... life & the universe conspired to make it >difficult. > >mjw
