inevitable?  Some of that stuff needs saying from time to
time...mostly because it's very true.

I agree that restarting discussion of the specific incident won't
serve any good purpose, but it may be that discussion of the larger
issues you brought into it might.  The stuff about why fandom is, why
people are happy when they find it, what it does for them, and why
it's important not to lose that.  I can't think of anything to add at
the moment, but others might.
