Mike Walsh asked:

Yes, both did. (Both were run by the same group, Fantek.) To
register, you had to wait until three other people were ready to
register. Then they'd take a Polaroid photo of the four of you, cut
it into quarters, and paste each person's photo onto their badge.

One year, I noticed after the con was over that they'd pasted the
wrong photo on my badge. Nobody noticed.

Just to be clear, they didn't ask for any kind of ID when you went to
register. This was just a variant kind of con badge. No other con
I've ever been to did it that way.

Some cons have claimed to require ID to register. But none actually
did. Though sometimes I'd have to argue a bit. One con wanted me to
prove I was 18, when I was obviously over twice that age. I just kept
repeating "don't be ridiculous" until they gave in. At another con,
I proved I was over 21 by showing a con badge from more than 21 years
earlier.
