Subject: [WSFA] Gaylaxicon gets a hotel

Gaylaxicon, the only SF con other than Capclave that will be in the DC
area in the remainder of this decade, finally has a hotel. (They had
announced their weekend first, which put constraints on their hotel
hunting.) They've settled on the Hyatt Regency Bethesda.

The good news is that it's right on top of the Bethesda Metro station.
The bad news is that their room rates start at $169 per night. Yes,
that's the con rate, not the rack rate. I suspect few members will be
staying in the con hotel.

The con is October 10-13, 2008, Columbus Day weekend, one week before
next year's Capclave. I had made sure that they and Capclave were
aware of each other, and didn't step on each other.

Speaking of Capclave, is it still on for the weekend starting eight
days from now? I've seen no discussion of it. Has everyone forgotten
about it or lost interest?
