Also, a number of program arrangements being made by personal
contact, resulting in the person doing programming having no contact
information for some participants.  And I really *hate* creating
registration records (from which the attendance list is derived) with
only names for badges.  If somebody is coming to the convention, then
the convention ought to be able to contact them.
