Those *are* the best kind... ;-)

FWIW, I and a lot of others use that sort of thing for non-medical
purposes.  I've used dental picks to remove a chewed-off wire from a
plug on my car (squirrels...) so I could solder in the remaining wire
end and fix the ignition, just for instance.  Some people use them
for fine carving or wax sculpture, etc..

Usually these are factory rejects, where there was a flaw in
manufacture that means they can't be used medically, but can be used
by hobbyists or technicians for other things.  The ones I have were
never finished...the working tips are still only rough
shaped.  That's fine by me...means more sharp edges! ;-)  I got mine
at the "cheap tools" table at a woodworking show.  I think I paid $2
for a set of three.  They were rust-free of course...they are stainless steel.
