The Economist, as well as the Daily Telegraph, take pride in their entertaining, thorough, and eccentric obituaries, and of the eccentric people they memorialize. The Washington Post and The New York Times memorialized late last year = Hugh Massingberd, who revived the Telegraph's obituary section. His obits included sections like [taken from his NYT obituary]: > "The Third Lord Moynihan, who has died in Manila, aged 55, provided = > through his character and career ample ammunition for critics of the = > hereditary principle. His chief occupations were bongo drummer, > confidence trickster, brothel-keeper, drug-smuggler and police > informer." and > "Often he would pass out amid the cutlery before doing any damage, > but occasionally he would cruise menacingly beneath the tables, > biting unwary customers=92 ankles." So, why are you surprised? Look up Massingberd's books. Eric
