I guess everybody in fandom reads a lot, but Paul seemed to have a
very broad knowledge of SF and F, and to pay especial attention to
new writers, something I find nearly impossible as I rapidly ossify.
He was responsible, I think, for having Michael Shea as GOH at
Unicon one year, which turned out to be a real treat for me
(reading-wise and hanging out, both).  He procuced a huge amount
of programming at cons over the years, but for such a sercon guy
was way too modest and funny.  Lucky to have had a friend like him.

A few days ago, I was thinking "We oughtta invite Paul and Aly
over sometime."  Unh.
