Wikipedia is wrong. The name of Perri the squirrel originally comes
from a book (or books) by Felix Salter, the original author of BAMBI.
Perri was featured in a book of her own and, if long-distant memories
serve me (these books were read to me before I learned to read),
appeared in subsequent Bambi books as well. No doubt Salter's Perri
served as the inspiration for the name of the squirrel in the Disney
documentary, Disney having purchased film rights to Bambi decades ago.
