Also at , I believe, the Sheraton Park. It was definitely after 1975...I didn't start going to cons until the year after Discon II, my first con was Disclave, and I was at Springcon. There's a note in the July 1987 edition of the WSFA Journal (http://www.wsfa.org/journal/j87/7/index.htm), in the "Something from the Vaults" section, which says it is probably from a meeting at Bill Berg's, on or about November 19, 1976: "Dolan selling Springcon [1]." with the footnote being: "Footnotes: 1: A small convention actually held in the dead of winter." That would mean that December 1976 is the earliest Springcon could have been, and that would fit well enough with my memory of the time so I think that's when it was. I know it was in early December of some year about then...a friend and I drove up from Va. Beach, going really fast (made it in under 3 hours...), and the reason we could go really fast (besides the 400 ci V8 in the Cougar XR-7 I drove at the time (that's 6.5 liters for the younger crowd)) was that the CB reported that almost all the state police were at a Christmas Party. We certainly didn't see any... Anyway, my memory is that it started on the 3rd of December, and in 1976, the 3rd of December was a Friday, so that would fit too. -- Mike B.
