I went to England this year (Heathrow airport). The US end of it was no
different from domestic travel (which has never made me feel like a
criminal suspect), nor was Heathrow on arrival (just walk past
customs). The return trip was a bit different, in that you go through
*two* inspections at Heathrow, one to gain entry to the "secured" part
of the airport, and a second one at the gate (which was more thorough),
but the personnel I dealt with were friendly and cheerful and I had no
problems. My reception at Dulles was completely uneventful.
